The Lie: what inspired the book (CL Taylor video) and a very creepy mailer campaign…

Here’s a short video about what inspired me to write my second psychological thriller THE LIE. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be blogging about some of the research I did before writing the novel, including: toxic friendships, cult leaders and psychopaths, mind control and brianwashing and what makes women kill….

The mailers for The Lie were sent out last week. Last year’s campaign for The Accident made a fantastic splash on Twitter and we were hoping that this year’s mailer would be similarly successful. It certainly got the crime bloggers talking! The campaign started with a handwritten letter from someone called Leanne, asking the blogger if they’d like to go on a trip of a life time and to tweet the tag #ekantayatra2015 if they were interested. It included an itinerary for what appeared to be a trip to Nepal.

The next day the bloggers were sent a passport that included their Twitter photo as their passport photo, an image of four girls with their faces scratched out and a friendship bracelet with the the words THE LIE spelled out on it. And it was all included in an evidence bag…

Blogger @crimebookclub made this brilliant Vine video:

THE LIE is available to pre-order on Amazon.co.uk
Or you could mark it ‘to read’ on Goodreads.

And if you’d like to be a character in my third psychological thriller THE FORGETTING (out in April 2016) now’s your chance! You, or a friend or relative you nominate, could have their name used as a character name in my next book, and you could help raise money for children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent in the process. Just get yourself along to Ebay to place your bid before the auction ends!
