The Island just got darker!

I’m thrilled to share the new cover for The Island, my young adult thriller – published on 21st January 2021.

I loved the first cover my publisher came up with: an island, the sea and a neon pink font for the title. My publisher loved it too but we all agreed that, while it said, ‘this is a CL Taylor book’ it didn’t say, ‘this is a young adult thriller’.

The art department set to work reinventing the cover to make it look more YA and this is the stunning new cover! It’s darker than the previous cover, more creepy, more intense and it definitely looks more YA.

Some readers have told me they are worried they won’t enjoy it because their teenaged years are far behind them. It doesn’t matter! I’m 47 and some of my favourite books were written for young adults (How I Live Now and The Great Godden by Meg Rossoff). The only difference between this book and my adult psych thrillers is that it’s slightly shorter and the characters are seventeen. It’s just as twisty, tense and dark as a CL Taylor adult book!

Most of the readers who have reviewed it on NetGalley were adults and these are some snippets of their amazing reviews:

‘I could not put this book down and now that I’ve finished it, I am having an extreme book hangover.’
Jasmine, Netgalley

‘A gripping and cleverly written book.’
Kyle, Netgalley

‘An absolutely incredible story full of suspense, tension and mystery. I found myself racing through the pages to find out
what would happen next!’
Roxanne, Netgalley

‘You are in for a real treat with this book, it gave me the chills reading it. Captivating and tense… This must be my favourite one of her books yet, it will be hard to top it.’
Hannah, Netgalley

Here’s the back cover blurb:

Welcome to The Island.
Where your worst fears are about to come true…

It was supposed to be the perfect holiday: a week-long trip for six teenage friends on a remote tropical island.

But when their guide dies of a stroke leaving them stranded, the trip of a lifetime quickly turns into a nightmare.

Because someone on the island knows each of the group’s worst fears. And one by one, they’re coming true.

Seven days in paradise. A deadly secret.

Who will make it off the island alive?
