The one where I stalk my book on the London Underground…

Oh, okay, that’s a really clickbaity title but, ‘it’s paperback publication day for The Guilty Couple!’ doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

But I did stalk the POSTER of my book The Guilty Couple on the Underground when I went into the capital yesterday for a meeting with my agent and publisher…

I had to miss a lot of trains to make sure the platforms were clear (and only a few people stared at me like I was a complete weirdo).

Totally playing it cool in that second photo…

The reason there are posters on the Underground (it doesn’t happen for every book) is because The Guilty Couple has been selected as part of Richard and Judy’s Book Club for Spring and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s the thirteenth book I’ve had published (nineth crime novel), and I’ve been writing full time for seven years, but Imposter Syndrome is still as present as it was for the first book. Finding out that my book was selected out of however many dozens or hundreds that are submitted for the R&J Book Club means more than I can say. This isn’t an easy business and I don’t tend to advertise the downs (how many of us do?) but they do make me appreciate the ups all the more.

So… as part of the R&J promotion I was asked to write an exclusive short story for the WH Smith’s edition of The Guilty Couple which you should be able to find in all High Street and Travel stores. The story is about a murderous marriage on a cruise ship. There’s also a Q&A with Richard and Judy, and some really thought-provoking book club questions.

You can buy the normal version of the paperback (without the story) from Tesco, Sainbury’s, Asda and Morrison’s. You can also buy it from Waterstones, Amazon, Bookshop.org or you could ask you local indie bookseller to order a copy for you.

I’ve got a few days off now – that I’ll probably fill bingeing the new series of Survivor Australia on Amazon Prime – while I wait for my editor to finish the line edits for next (March 2023) book.

If you’re wondering what the new book is about… then I hope you’re subscribed to my newsletter because I just told them! (newsletter subscribers always get my news first).

If you’re not subscribed, make sure you sign up now so you’re the first to find out the title, and more details, in the next newsletter: https://cltaylorauthor.com/newsletter/

Over lunch in London yesterday my agent and editor gave me the thumbs up for the idea for my 2024 book which was a relief. It’s only the bones of an idea as it stands so I’ve got a lot of plotting and planning work to do over the next few months.

But today is all about The Guilty Couple paperback. If you’ve already read and reviewed it, thank you so much. If you’ve been patiently waiting for the paperback then I hope you enjoy it. If you do, please tell your friends.

Oh, and if you’re flying anywhere in the next few weeks apparently there are electronic posters of The Guilty Couple in the airports, outside WH Smith’s Travel. I’m going nowhere so if you photograph or video one I’d love to see it!

The Guilty Couple is an excellent book as are all of CL Taylor’s stories. She is one of the few authors of whom I read hardbacks on first release and most of them are signed copies.
