Index cards, pretending to be Greg Davies, and something to help you hit your Goodreads target!

I do tend to waffle on in these blog posts but I’m going to try and make this one quick(ish).

I don’t have many events left this year but there are three corkers lined up over the next couple of months.

First up…LONDON – Capital Crime – 9am – Friday 1st September with Kat Diamond Olivia Kiernan Author and Susi Holliday Tickets available here: https://www.capitalcrime.org/product-page/home-is-where-the-crime-is

STIRLING – Bloody Scotland – 10.30pm – 16th October – a night of mayhem as Luca Veste and I become Greg Davies and Little Alex Horne in CRIMEMASTER! We’ll be torturing, I mean, setting tasks for Mark Billingham, Mark Edwards, Abir Mukherjee, Susi Holiday and Gytha Lodge.

Tickets available here: https://bloodyscotland.com/events/crimemaster-mark-billingham-mark-edwards-susi-holliday-gytha-lodge-and-abir-mukherjee/

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the silliness we’ll be showing during Crimemaster. It’s a mixture of pre-recorded and live tasks. Given how much we’ve laughed whilst planning and filming it, I think it’ll be a LOT of fun.

GERRARD’S CROSS – Chiltern Kills Crime-Writing Festival – 12.30pm – 7th October – Committed or Casual (Series or standalone panel) with, Elly Griffiths, Olivia Kiernan and Neil Broadfoot.Tickets available here: https://www.chilternkills.com/

Book news!

I’m excited to announce that, apart from one final read through when the proofs arrive, Book 10 is done!

It’ll be published in Spring 2024 (finalised date to be announced) and I should be able to share the title, cover and blurb with you VERY SOON.

What I can share with you is the tagline:

The only way to stop at stalker is to become one yourself…

it’s about a group of people, all victims of stalking, who meet on an online forum. When one of the group is murdered they decide to try and take back control by putting trackers on each other’s stalkers. Needless to say, it doesn’t exactly go to plan…

***

Now that that book is pretty much wrapped up I’m going to start writing Book 11 once my son starts secondary school next week (just me or does this feel like the longest summer holiday ever?)

Over on Instagram I’ve been detailing my plotting process – from ‘what if…’ to character motivation to planning scenes with index cards.

And finally…

If you’ve got a terrible attention span, you need a short book to help you complete your Goodreads challenge, or you just love short stories, then this might be right up your street!

My new short story collection (under my full name) is out now! Just the ebook for now but a paperback is coming soon.

Here’s the blurb:

Sixteen gripping, dark, devious and occasionally humerous crime stories by Cally Taylor aka Sunday Times bestseller and psychological thriller author, C.L. Taylor.

Whether you’re waiting for the kettle to boil, you’re in a queue or just want something quick to read, these stories are the perfect bite-sized slices of crime.

The story The Woman on the Train features Fran, a character from C.L. Taylor’s novel Her Last Holiday, and The Neighbour featured Wendy from her novel The Fear.
