Fangirling Lisa Jewell, a bargain, my 9th Sunday Times bestseller, and three new events…

i always forget to update this blog after a book is published, largely because I’m absolutely knackered, but often because the end of book promo means I have to get back to writing the next book, and doing some serious catching up!

That said, I have temporarily paused writing (current word count for the 2025 book is 43,000 and I’m aiming for 80,000 by the end of May) to say a huge thank you to everyone who pre-ordered Every Move You Make, or bought it during the first week it was on sale.

Because of you Every Move You Make has become my ninth bestseller in a row, hitting #8 in the Sunday Times hardback chart for two weeks in a row! Every single pre-order and sale really does count.

This year, I spent most of publication week, and the week after, on a bookshop tour. It was an absolute dream come true to do not one, not two, but THREE events with one of my favourite writers, Lisa Jewell whose books I’ve loved since Ralph Party was published 25 years ago (God, that makes me feel old!)

When I read that book as a 25 year old, desperate to write a book but too scared, I never would have imagined that one day I’d get to share a stage with the author whose author note (about how she came to be published) in the back of her debut let me dare to dream.

We did two events (Chorley and the Wirral) with the brilliant Luca Veste, then in Deeside we were joined by the amazing author, and my very good friend, Claire Douglas and the wonderful Jenny Blackhurst. The audiences were like nothing I’ve ever experienced. If you came along thank you so much for making it a week that I’ll never forget.

As well as doing events we were ferried around each morning, from bookshop to bookshop to sign stock. We’d be so busy chatting away in the back of the car that when the driver would pull over and tell us that we were at the next bookshop we’d have no idea where we were! (The towns/cities I can remember are: Liverpool, Wrexham, Chester, Crewe and Southport, but there were definitely more!)

Stuart Turton was supposed to be with us but had a poorly child. We found him a stand in in one shop!

I returned home on Easter Friday to spend time with my family then, the Tuesday after, I was off again – this time to do two dates with talented Ms Erin Kelly, at Bookish bookshop in Crickhowell and Booka in Bridgnorth. As happened the week before we were welcomed by friendly booksellers and had the most lovely readers turn up.

If you’d like to come along to an event I have three more confirmed for this year (potentially more but they’re not confirmed yet).

And the bargain I mentioned in the title of this post?

Amazon are currently selling the hardback of Every Move You Make for just £8. That’s 47% off the retail price!

If you’re quick you should be able to grab the version with the embossed lily under the jacket. Don’t delay though because it won’t be that price for long….
