I know your name’s not really Jane Hughes…

Jane Hughes has a loving partner, a job in an animal sanctuary and a tiny cottage in rural Wales. She’s happier than she’s ever been but her life is a lie. Jane Hughes does not really exist.

Five years earlier Jane and her then best friends went on holiday but what should have been the trip of a lifetime rapidly descended into a nightmare that claimed the lives of two of the women.

Jane has tried to put her past behind her but someone knows the truth about what happened. Someone who won’t stop until they’ve destroyed Jane and everything she loves…

“The Lie felt to me like a Black Narcissus for the Facebook generation, a clever exploration of how petty jealousies and misunderstandings can unravel even the tightest of friendships. Claustrophobic, tense and thrilling, a thrill-ride of a novel that keeps you guessing.” – Elizabeth Haynes (author of ‘Into the Darkest Corner’)

“This is a fast-paced, tense and atmospheric novel; a good old-fashioned thumping good read. The descriptions of the sinister community in Nepal are evocative and exciting. There are some great set-pieces – CL Taylor is brilliant at writing nail-biting action scenes – and the characterisation is spot-on. This is a guaranteed bestseller and that’s, ahem, The Truth.” – Mark Edwards (author of ‘The Magpies’)

”A gripping page-turner full of intrigue and suspense.”Lucy Clarke (author of ‘The Sea Sisters’)

“The Lie is absolutely brilliant – The Beach, only darker, more thrilling and more tense. It’s the story of a twisted, distorted friendship. It’s a compelling, addictive and wonderfully written tale. Can’t recommend it enough.” – Louise Douglas (author of ‘The Secrets Between Us’)

“C.L Taylor delivers another compelling  read that’ll keep you turning pages way too late into the night. Warning: may cause drowsiness the following day.” – Tamar Cohen (author of ‘Dying for Christmas’)

“A gripping and disturbing psychological thriller: every bit as good as The Accident.” – Clare Mackintosh (author of ‘I Let You Go’)

“My heart was racing after I finished CL Taylor’s brilliant new book The Lie. Dark, creepy and full of twists. I loved it.” – Rowan Coleman (author of ‘The Memory Book’)

“Tense, menacing and utterly addictive, The Lie is a superbly crafted thriller. I loved it!”Miranda Dickinson (author of ‘Fairytale of New York’)

“A real page-turner, with two storylines: one of growing menace in the present, and a past narrative of a girls-only holiday that goes horrifically wrong. Creepy, horrifying and twisty. CL Taylor is extremely good at writing stories in which you have no idea which characters you can trust, and the result is intriguing and scary and extremely gripping.” – Julie Cohen (author of ‘Dear Thing’)

‘With flavours of Alex Garland’s The Beach, a grit that wouldn’t be out of place in a Martina Cole, but at the same time retaining an identity all of its own, The Lie is the sort of book that gives you sweaty palms and makes your heart race.’ Victoria Fox (author of ‘Temptation Island’)

“A plot both brilliant and chilling; characters both appealing and dark and a terrifying climax to which you will race with your heart hammering in your chest. Masterful storytelling; a brilliant read. This dark, ingenious story will keep have you gripped from the first chapter. A brilliant reminder of the dark capacities of the human mind . . . A fantastic and thrilling read.” Lucy Robinson (author of ‘The Day We Disappeared’)

Thank you so much, Nicoletta. I’m delighted that you enjoyed The Accident. Did you read the English or Italian version? If it’s the Italian version then yes, Longanesi, my Italian publishers will be translating and publishing The Lie. I’m not sure when but I imagine it’ll be available in 2016. Thanks so much for getting in touch, it’s lovely to read how much you enjoyed one of my books. Cally.
